NFL on the Run is a practical, self-paced training course for youth practitioners. Through podcasts, reflection activities, tools and hands-on methods, you will explore key topics in youth work and community building. Test new approaches in real-life settings, reflect on your practice and build your own toolkit for working with young people.

What is this course about?

This course is based on international research carried out together with partners from Germany, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary and Italy, where we identified 15 key topics that are shaping youth work and community building today. These topics reflect the real challenges, needs and opportunities faced by young people — and by the people who support them every day.

This is not a course based only on theory. It is designed to help you reflect, experiment and discover new ways of working with young people in your own setting.

Throughout the course, you will:

  • reflect on your own experience and identify your starting point

  • discover inspiring materials, podcasts and practical tools;

  • explore different methods and approaches used across Europe;

  • use navigation cards and reflection exercises to deepen your understanding;

  • test new ideas in real-life situations with young people;

  • adapt what you learn to your own context and community.

Step by step, you will move from reflection to action:

  1. Explore one of the 15 key topics.

  2. Think about how it connects to your own work.

  3. Discover tools, methods and practical examples.

  4. Try them out in your own setting.

  5. Reflect on what worked and what you would do differently.

  6. Build your own toolkit for future youth work activities.

By the end of the course, you will have a collection of practical methods, fresh ideas and new approaches that you can immediately use in your daily work. Whether you work in a youth centre, sports club, school, cultural organisation or local community, this course will help you feel more confident, creative and prepared to support young people.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for people working with young people in different community settings, including youth centres, sports clubs, schools, cultural organisations, local associations, social cooperatives and informal youth groups.

It is especially relevant for:

  • youth workers and youth leaders;

  • educators and trainers;

  • coaches and sports practitioners;

  • volunteers and mentors;

  • staff working in community-based organisations;

  • teachers and non-formal education practitioners;

  • professionals supporting young people in social, cultural or recreational settings.

The course is suitable both for people who are new to youth work and for more experienced practitioners who want to discover new methods, reflect on their practice and test practical tools with young people in real-life settings.

What do participants get from this course?

Participants will discover new methods, tools and approaches developed during the project and collected from different European contexts. Through podcasts, navigation cards, reflection exercises, educational approaches and practical methods, learners will strengthen their youth work practice and build a personal toolkit that they can use in their daily work.

The course helps participants reflect on their own experiences, better understand the needs and struggles of young people, and become more confident in dealing with different topics and situations. Learners will explore different ways of approaching the same issue, test methods in real-life settings and adapt them to their own context.

This course is worth taking because it offers practical and ready-to-use ideas, while also opening up the broad world of non-formal education. The methods and tools introduced can be applied in many different settings, including youth centres, schools, sports clubs, cultural organisations and local communities.
