SHER-Y OER
The SHER-Y Online Educational Resource (OER) is a practical learning course designed for youth workers, educators, and youth leaders who support adolescents. The course explores key topics related to sexual health and wellbeing, including puberty, body image, consent, healthy relationships, communication, personal boundaries, and digital safety. Through interactive learning units, reflection activities, and practical tools, participants will build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to facilitate informed, inclusive, and age-appropriate conversations with young people. The course promotes a youth-centred approach and provides resources that can be directly applied in educational and youth work settings.
Welcome to the SHER-Y Online Educational Resource (OER), developed within the Erasmus+ project SHER-Y – Sexual Health Education Resources for Youth.
This learning resource has been designed to support youth workers, educators, youth leaders, and other professionals who work with adolescents. It provides practical knowledge, tools, and learning activities to help facilitate open, informed, and age-appropriate conversations about sexual health, relationships, consent, body image, communication, and digital safety.
The course recognises that young people today face a complex social and digital environment that influences how they understand relationships, identity, sexuality, and personal boundaries. At the same time, many professionals report feeling underprepared or lacking practical resources to confidently address these topics. This OER aims to bridge that gap by providing accessible, evidence-informed, and youth-centred learning opportunities.
Throughout the course, you will explore key topics related to adolescent sexual health and wellbeing, including:
- Puberty, body image, and self-esteem;
- Consent and personal boundaries;
- Healthy and unhealthy relationships;
- Communication, respect, and emotional intelligence;
- Pressure, manipulation, and coercion;
- Digital relationships, online behaviour, and safety;
- Practical methods and activities for working with young people.
The learning experience combines short learning units, reflection activities, practical examples, and interactive exercises that encourage active engagement and application to real-life youth work practice.
By completing this course, you will strengthen your knowledge, increase your confidence in addressing sensitive topics, and gain practical tools that can be immediately applied in educational and youth work settings.
We encourage you to actively participate, reflect on your own experiences, and consider how the ideas and approaches presented throughout the course can support the young people you work with.
Thank you for joining us on this learning journey.
