The Bet On Sport project arose in response to the growing need to integrate physical activity and sport into the recovery processes of people with gambling addiction, especially in relation to sports betting. The course aims to train professionals in the fields of health/addiction and sport to use physical activity as a therapeutic tool in the prevention, treatment, and recovery of people with gambling addiction

The program promotes an interdisciplinary, ethical, and inclusive approach that combines scientific knowledge, practical tools, and assessment resources applicable in different European contexts.

General objective

To strengthen the competencies of professionals to design, implement, and evaluate therapeutic sports interventions aimed at people with gambling addiction, integrating cooperation between specialists in the health and sports fields.

Specific objectives

  • Understand the scientific and practical foundations of the use of sport in the treatment of gambling addiction.
  • Co-design, implement, and evaluate sports interventions adapted to different contexts, needs, and participant profiles.
  • Understand the roles, limits, and responsibilities of the different professional profiles involved.
  • Apply ethical and safety principles, ensuring the physical and emotional integrity of participants.
  • Measure and evaluate the results and impacts of sports interventions using indicators of well-being, adherence, and behavioral change.

Key competencies

  • Design and implementation of therapeutic sports interventions: ability to plan and execute exercise programs adapted to the characteristics and objectives of each person.
  • Interdisciplinary work and professional collaboration: ability to coordinate effectively between specialists from different sectors, sharing criteria and responsibilities.
  • Ethics and social responsibility: understanding and applying principles of respect, inclusion, equity, and confidentiality in vulnerable contexts.
  • Evaluation and continuous improvement: use of tools to assess the effectiveness of interventions and promote professional innovation.
